Puck Yeah News

Welcome to Season 2!

WE’RE BACK!

It’s been a couple months since we released the last podcast and it’s safe to say we’ve both really missed talking puck.

It might seem crazy to take such a long break during New Zealand’s hockey season but it had to happen. Logan was focusing on his new job at The Crowd Goes Wild and the British & Irish Lions tour filled up Joe’s weekends. We do Puck Yeah together in our own time; we just didn’t have any.

So, a break was needed! Since then, the Skycity Stampede were crowned three-peat NZIHL champions, we took stock of the podcast’s performance and where we could improve, plus Bobby Margarita returned to Twitter.

We realised we have this unique opportunity to tell New Zealand’s hockey stories and it shouldn’t be wasted worrying too much about what the NHL was doing. If you want to read NHL news or listen to a NHL podcast, you probably have your favourite sources already. We would recommend The Athletic and The Steve Dangle Podcast respectively.

We will still cover the NHL more casually with Logan writing about fantasy and virtual hockey, while Joe uses his in-depth knowledge of Brand New and Taking Back Sunday songs for puck metaphors.

But now the podcast will focus on New Zealand hockey and explore the issues that are important to Kiwi puck fans.

This website is an extension of the podcast’s ideals and we have some very talented contributors helping us with our primary goal of becoming New Zealand’s home of hockey.

Much like the New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation, our main objective is to grow the sport. We plan on doing this by increasing it’s media exposure and showcasing the many great characters that make up this vibrant community of hockey fans, players, referees, management and volunteers.

With that in mind, welcome to season 2 of Puck Yeah Podcast!

Yours truly in hockey,
Logan & Joe / Puck Yeah Podcast
